All
students visit the library weekly for a story or library lesson. Students in grades 1, 2, and 3 are allowed to
visit the library daily using passes.
Students in Pre-K come to the library weekly for story time but do not
check out books to take home. Pre-K students
will select books to keep in their classroom for the week beginning in January.
Students in Kindergarten begin checking out books by the end of the
first six weeks. They are allowed to
check out 1 book at a time for a period of 2 weeks. However, they can make a new selection weekly
if they have returned their library book from the previous week.
Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade are
allowed to check out 2 books at a time for a period of 2 weeks. However, they are allowed to return books throughout
the week and select new titles.
All students are responsible for bringing library materials back on
time. Due dates are stamped in the front
of the book. Students are not required
to pay a fine for an overdue book.
However, they are expected to pay for the replacement of any lost or
damaged books checked out in their name.
Good behavior is expected in the library so all students can experience
the joy of reading. Students will be praised
for following directions and exhibiting prosocial
behavior. Classes earn gold coins for
good behavior. One class per week is
awarded the Golden Gnome. He visits the
classroom for the week and has his picture taken with the students. The picture is posted on the bulletin board
across the hall from the library.
