We currently have 4 Prose students. Prose interpers prepare two different pieces based on the designated UIL categories.
Prose interpers compete against a number of students (usually 6 to 8) normally from different schools. Prior to competition interpers select prose pieces, cut them (keeping the integrity of the piece), prepare an introduction, and rehearse their interpretation to make sure it fits into a 7-minute time limit. Interpers do not “perform” their prose piece; they offer the judge a well rehearsed interpretation of the author’s intent.
