Introduction to World Agricultural Science adn Technology (Ag101)
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: None
Grade: 9-12
Students will learn about the importance of agriculture, agricultural careers and leadership skills.

 

Applied Agricultural Science and Technology (Ag 102)
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: None
Grade: 9-12
This course is offered in the spring following World Agriculture. This course includes beginning animal, plant and soil science. The basic use of hand tools is also covered.

 

Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Intro to Worl Ag Science or Teacher approval
Grade: 10-12
This is a course designed to introduce basic theory and specialized skills in agricultural mechanincs. Skills to be developed include tool identification and safe use, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, masonry, fencing, painting, metal working and welding processes.

 

Plant and Animal Production
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Intro to Worl Ag Science or Teacher approval
Grade: 10-12
Students will study the growth and development of plants and animals and properties of the soil. Students will grow projects in the experimental lab.

 

Animal Science
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Plant and Animal Production
Grade: 11-12
Students wil study the development and growth of animals, an explanation of animal anatomy and physiology related to nutrition, reproduction, health and managment of domestic animals. Students will explore occupations in the animal science industry.

 

Metal Fabrication
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Intro to world Ag Science
Grade: 11-12
This is a course designed to develop skills in metal equipment assembly and joining processes. Students wil sonstruct metal projects in the lab using oxyacetylene, arc, MIG, TIG, and plasma welding techniques

 

Agricultural Mechanics
2 credits
Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Mechanics
Grade: 12
This is a mechanincal shop course in which students work with wood and metal materials. Students will learn hands-on activities in the laboratory. Students will have the opportunity to buil individual or group projects in the lab.

 

Wildlife and Recreation Management
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: None
Grade: 10-12
This is a course designed to examine the importance of wildlife and outdoor recreation with emphasis on using wildlife and natural resources.

 

Horticulture
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: None
Grade: 10-11
Students will study the growth and development of plants, and explore careers in the horticulture industry. Greenhouse and nursery production as well as enviromental issues will be discussed.

 

Home maintenance and improvement
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Teacher Approval
Grade: 10-12
This course is designed to prepare students for careers in mechanized agricultural systems. Students will attain the acedemic skills and knowledge in agricultural systems necessary to obtain a position in the workplace.

 

Food Technology
1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Teacher Approval
Grade: 10-12
Students will study careers in value-added and food processing systems. Students will attain the academic skills and knowledge related to value-added and food processing in the workplace and develop skills for industry expectations.
