Instructions for Parental Access to La Vernia ISD GradeSpeed

 

Thank you for your interest in accessing online student progress information. Please follow the steps below to request your GradeSpeed Parental Access account.  Once you complete the application process, the following overview of the approval process will help you understand any delays that may occur during the processing of your account:

 

1.    GradeSpeed Parental Access accounts cannot be processed until after the final schedule is released during the first week of school or the first week after the beginning of a semester.  This means that all parental access requests must wait for stage one processing, verification of valid enrolled and scheduled students, until final schedules are released into the system.

2.    The second stage of processing is verification that access requests come from valid parents/legal guardians who have full legal rights to access the student's account.  This process is performed in concert between local GradeSpeed administrators and the pertinent campus staff, and often takes some time to research for all the parents who request accounts, particularly during high-volume periods such as the beginning of a semester.  Please note that ensuring the confidentiality and security of student data is our highest priority.

3.    Once both of these steps are successfully completed the Parental Access account is then enabled to access student progress information.

4.    If a problem arises anywhere during the approval process, an error message such as “Denied - Invalid Student ID” will be posted to the Parental Access account so that you may correct your application and resubmit.

 

Account Activation Instructions

 

·        You must be running Microsoft Windows 2000 or better, Mac OS 9 or better, and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or higher

·        You must either turn off all of your pop-up blockers (most computers have multiple pop-up blockers loaded), or disable them for site http://lvschools.gradespeed.net and all sub-pages

·        Before you begin the sign-up process, make sure you know your student(s) FULL LEGAL NAME as used during registration, their campus assignment, and their full six-digit Student ID Number.

 

Step 1: Request an Account

 

On your computer, be sure you are connected to the Internet, open Internet Explorer, and go to our URL http://lvschools.gradespeed.net ; you should see the following screen:

 

 

Click on the Parent link, and you should see:

 

In the District drop-down box, select La Vernia ISD if it is not already selected by clicking on the little down-arrow icon to get the list of districts, and you should see:

 

If you are a parent requesting a new account, click on the Click here to sign up link, and you will see something similar to:

 

 

Please be sure to fill out the form with your FULL LEGAL NAME as used when registering your students, and put in an accurate email address and valid phone number.  You may choose your login name and password, but BE SURE TO USE LOWER CASE (double-check that your CAPS LOCK key is not turned on); the system will prompt for a change in the event you chose a name that is already in use. 


When your form is filled out, you will see something like the following:

 

 

When you are finished and have proofread your form (remember that the password you chose is always masked by *’s for security), please click the Sign Up link at the bottom of the page. 


You will see:

 

 

You must now add one or more of your children who is a student in La Vernia ISD to your account in order to view their grades. 


Click the Add a student to my account link, and you will see:

 

 

Please be sure to enter your child’s full six-digit Student ID Number including all leading zeros, your child’s FULL LEGAL NAME as used during registration, and fill in the rest of the form. 


You will see something similar to this:

 

 

After proofreading, click on the Submit link.

You will see:

 

 

If you have more children enrolled in the District, click the Add Students button and repeat the process.  When you have added all your children, click the Log Out link at left, and you are done.

As there are several security steps each La Vernia ISD campus must fulfill (as required by law and District policies) in order to insure that you are a valid La Vernia ISD parent with legal rights to access student data, it may take several days after completion of this process before your account is activated and you can view your student(s) grades.  Please be patient, because insuring your security and privacy, and that of your children, is of the utmost importance to La Vernia ISD.

Step 2: Access your Account

 

On your computer, be sure you are connected to the Internet, open Internet Explorer, and go to our URL http://lvschools.gradespeed.net ; you should see the following screen:

 

 

Click on the Parent link, and you should see:

 

 

In the District drop-down box, select La Vernia ISD, and you should see:

 

 

Type in the user name and password IN LOWER CASE (double-check that your CAPS LOCK key is not turned on) that you chose when you created your account. 


Your screen should look something like this after you type in your user name and password:

 

 

You will then click on the Log On button to log on to the system and access student progress information for your children.

 

If you attempt to access our GradeSpeed site and log on to Parent Access before your account is approved, you will see the following screen:

 

 

If this happens, try again in a day or two.  Once your account has been approved, you will then be able to access your student(s) progress information.
