La Vernia I.S.D. has a new Web
Specialist.
While you may or may
not know that over the summer La Vernia ISD experienced some
technical difficulties when an air-conditioning unit went out in the
room that houses servers for the district, you probably do know that
the district web site was affected. This outage caused the failure
of the web server, since that time the district has been operating
from a backup server for the district web site. The back up server, is just
that, a backup server, and contained a backup version of the
district web site that was a few months old; hence a lot of the
information contained in the site was out of date.
A notice was posted
explaining the problem; still the district and community were left
with an out dated site.
The current web site is put up and maintained by faculty
members from the various campuses and staff members from the various
departments. These
staff members all have other duties, and authoring and updating
their web pages is just one of the many hats they wear. There was no one whose sole
purpose was to maintain and update the website.
Recently La Vernia
ISD decided they needed to have someone designated to keep up with
the website and all its pages on a regular basis. The school board approved a
Web Specialist position just for that purpose.
LVISD’s new Web Specialist is April
Rojas.
Mrs. Rojas has lived in Wilson
County
for
eight years and has three children, the oldest of which currently
serves in the Army; the younger two are in high school and
junior high, respectively. Mrs. Rojas is a graduate of
ITT
Technical Institute San Antonio with a degree in
Information Technology.
In addition to maintaining the
website, Mrs. Rojas assists with supporting teachers
in their use of technology and the internet.
You can contact
Mrs. Rojas with questions, suggestions and content submissions at april.rojas@lvschools.net.
